Optimizing data center efficiency with software-defined networking solutions
Author(s): Dr. Ziad Aoun
Abstract: As data centers continue to evolve to meet growing demands in cloud computing, big data, and high-speed networking, their efficiency has become a critical aspect of their design and operation. Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is emerging as a transformative solution to overcome the limitations of traditional network architectures. By decoupling the control and data planes, SDN provides greater flexibility, scalability, and control over network resources. This review paper examines how SDN can be employed to optimize data center efficiency, focusing on aspects such as network performance, resource utilization, energy consumption, and management flexibility. Real-world case studies and comparative analysis with traditional systems are provided to highlight the effectiveness of SDN in data centers.
