Abstract: Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are revolutionizing the transportation sector, with a primary focus on improving safety, efficiency, and reducing human errors. Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication plays a crucial role in enhancing AVs' operational capabilities by enabling real-time data exchange between vehicles, infrastructure, and other entities. This paper explores the application of the IEEE 802.11p standard for real-time data transmission in autonomous vehicles. We present a MATLAB simulation framework to analyze the performance of V2X communication for various driving scenarios. Key performance indicators (KPIs) such as data rate, latency, and packet loss are evaluated. Our results show that the IEEE 802.11p standard, combined with advanced V2X protocols, can meet the stringent requirements of autonomous vehicle applications in urban and highway environments.
